Quick checks you can do safely
- Thermostat: set to cool, temperature well below room temp, fan on auto.
- Filter: pull it out and look - if it is grey with dust, rinse and dry it.
- Outdoor unit: check the fan is spinning and it is not blocked by debris.
- Tripped breaker: if the outdoor unit is dead, check the breaker has not tripped.
The three usual causes
1. Low refrigerant gas
Air blows but it is not cold. Usually a slow leak. Needs a leak check and refill - not a DIY job.
2. Clogged coil
Dubai dust coats the evaporator coil so air cannot transfer heat. Cleaning restores cooling - this is the single most common cause we see.
3. Failing compressor
